What I Ate Wednesday #23

Hello!  Happy Halloween!  How is your day going so far?  Fabulously, I hope!

It is What I Ate Wednesday, so I am here to link up with Jenn and show you what I was munching on yesterday.

Spooky Snacks and Healthy Halloween Treats
Yesterday was kind of a funny food day for me.  Not that what I was eating was strange, but mostly I just didn’t end up eating much because of concert adventures and planning fails.  Nevertheless it was a pretty sweet day.

Of course, I woke up with a mug of hot water with half of a lemon.

I drink this just about every morning, because, not only is it soothing to me, but it’s also alkalizing, boosts immunity with vitamin C, aids digestion, and helps detoxify your body by encouraging your digestive and lymph systems to work efficiently.

Next up was a yummy new juice that I came up with in the process of making it.

Cucumber, red leaf lettuce, green apple, orange, lemon, and ginger.  This combo was so sweet and refreshing.  Definitely a new favorite!

While drinking my juice, I got ready for our adventure of the night.  Luckily, I also remembered to grab some solid food before we headed out the door.

Dave’s Killer Bread toast (seriously THE best bread if you live in the PNW!) with avocado, tomato, sea salt, and pepper.  This is such an incredible combo.  It tastes great, and has whole grains, healthy fats, and veggies.  What more can you ask for??

Keenan and I spent the evening dressed up as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) and Pepper Potts, while enjoy the rockin’ performances of Oberhofer and Matt & Kim.

Not a great pic (taken at the end of the night, never a good plan), but you get the idea.  My costume was totally free since it was stuff I already had (black pencil skirt, white button up, black heels), and Keenan’s cost less than $10 for a Dollar Tree tap light (duct taped/stapled to a t-shirt with another shirt over top) and a mustache kit from the Halloween store.  We definitely had fun with our costumes.  He called me Miss Potts all night. :)

The concert was insane.  Both bands put on SUCH great shows.  Seattle is home for Oberhofer, so you could tell it was an extra special show for him.  Plus he was wearing fairy wings, black lipstick and glitter for the holiday.  So cool!  I got to meet him and chit-chat a bit after the show, and we got our Oberhofer album signed by 4 out of the 5 band members.

Matt & Kim….well, they were just something else.  They were actually the first concert that Keenan and I went to together, a little over two years ago at the Showbox.  They’ve stepped up their game since last time, and it was just crazy!

Kim even did her classic “walk on the crowd’s hands and booty dance” thing.

Like I said, INSANE!!!

After the show, we went to our friend Fernando’s house to chill for a bit.  Luckily I had a granola bar in my purse, because I was starving by that time!

These Clif Crunch bars are pretty good.  Actually, this Honey Oat bar is exactly like one of the Nature Valley Oats and Honey bars.  As my friend Molly said, “You mean crumbs everywhere?”  Yup.  But still delicious, and kept me from starvation.

When we finally got home, I ate two big bowls of cereal.

Keenan convinced me to combine Crispy Cocoa Rice with Cinnamon Sensation.  Pretty bomb.  I threw some goji berries into my second bowl for a little extra nutrition.

That’s it for my day yesterday.  Definitely not a very good example of healthy eating, but life is life.  Today will be veggie packed and full of good food to make up for yesterday.  The great thing about a healthy lifestyle is that it doesn’t matter if one day isn’t perfect.  You always have the next day to get back in the saddle and and keep on fueling yourself on nourishing whole foods.

What are you munching on this Halloween?

Affirmation of the Day:  Today is a brand new day.

Love you guys, and hope you have a delicious and safe Halloween!

We’re on vacation, so we’re eating partly local, and partly from two gallon freezer bags of trail mix we brought with us: Costco mixed nuts, m&m’s, dried cranberries, dried cherries and raisins. Healthy, filling, and tasty. For the local part of What We ate Wednesday, we started our day with a papaya, banana and strawberry smoothie and half a cinnamon raisin bagel with crunchy peanutbutter. Lunch was at a hole-in-the-wall taco stand called “The Crack”. Their logo is unprintable. I had a veggie burrito filled with black beans, Mexican rice, “greens” (shredded cabbage), salsa fresca and cheese (I should have opted for guacamole instead of cheese, but I goofed). Dinner will contain a bit of meat (chicken) made by me, into a nice stir-fry with whatever I can scrape together served over rice.

I love the costumes. I even know who Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are! You are a stunning Pepper. The Tap Light is a stroke of genius. Very creative.

I had lentil soup with carrots, celery, and onion with vegetable broth. Flavored with cumin, ground coriander, salt and I was supposed to use grains of paradise, but couldn’t find any so I used pepper corns.
