What I Ate Wednesday #20

So, evidently, taking time off blogging somehow equated to taking time off of healthy eating for me.  Let me tell you, sometimes it takes remembering what it feels like to not eat well to really encourage you to put the good stuff in your body.  Lately I’ve felt so exhausted that I’ve been sleeping up to 12 hours a night, my body has felt heavy and sluggish, I’ve cut way back on the exercise, and I just don’t feel right.

I figured that What I Ate Wednesday was a great excuse to get myself back on the right track.  I kept it pretty light, because I’m trying to clean out my system a bit, and made sure to get plenty of liquid nutrition in the form of juices and a smoothie.

As soon as my first green juice of the day hit my lips I instantly knew that it was exactly what I needed.

It was a pretty standard recipe, with cucumber, celery, broccoli stem, spinach, green apple, lemon and ginger.

After my juice, I headed out for a five mile bike ride to get my sweat on.

My quads were burning, but it felt oh so good!

When I returned from my bike, I whipped up a green smoothie to get the protein, carbs, and nutrients I needed to refuel.

It included vanilla almond milk, vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, and spinach.

Dinner was a simple mix of tofu and zucchini, cooked in coconut oil and tamari, over quinoa, topped with sesame and hemp seeds, and served with a side of seaweed snacks.

I while after dinner I had my 2nd juice of the day.

Carrots, cucumber, celery, green apple, spinach, lemon, and ginger.

A bit later, I treated myself to a cup of my favorite Citrus Lavender Sage + Opus Rouge tea from Teavana made with the awesome reusable hemp tea bag that my mom picked up for me while she was on vacation in Canada.

I also added a bit of stevia and coconut oil to my sweet brew.

When Keenan came home from work, he came toting some goodies with him.  He brought me a huge salad packed full of veggies.

(There’s even more hidden under the mountain of radish!)

He also brought me something extra special in the form of a slice of apple pie from High 5 Pie.

I’ve wanted to try their pie ever since Keenan started working on the same block as High 5, and believe me, it lived up to my expectations.  So good!

It was definitely a great day of eats!

What have you been munching on?

Affirmation of the Day: I treat myself to green goodness everyday.

Love you guys!
