Green juice is something that I try to include in my diet almost everyday. I almost think of it as a supplement, since it’s such an easy way to get vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream. My recipe usually stays about the same, but sometimes I make little modifications, depending on the season, what I have in the fridge, or what I feel like. Most days, I use a small granny smith apple as the sweet factor in my green juice, but sometimes it’s fun (and healthy) to switch it up and use something like grapefruit, watermelon in summer, or pear in fall and winter.
This past weekend, when I went grocery shopping, I was delighted to find that organic pears were not only on sale for the season, but that they were actually the same price as conventional pears! Despite my health freak tendencies, I’m a bit picky about what I buy organic, because I’m not rich, and I already spend more money on groceries than most people, because I am strict about buying natural, whole foods. So, of course, I picked up a bunch of organic pears, and have diligently been making green juice with them ever since.
Pear makes a fantastic green juice sweetener. You must try it.
Ingredients
- 1 cucumber
- 3 celery stalks
- 1 Bartlett pear
- 2 cups kale
- 1/2 lemon
- 1″ chunk ginger
Directions
1. Wash all of your produce well, and remove the peel from the lemon. Run everything through your juicer once or twice.
Enjoy, my loves!
What are you excited to make with pears this season?

Yummy! I love green juice…
Which juicer do you have?
I have the Breville compact. It works really well for me, and was one of the less expensive models. Ive had it for almost 2 years.
