Veggie Interview: Tara Bliss of Such Different Skies

Hi friends!
I have an extra special treat for you today!  My beautiful Aussie bloggie friend, Tara Bliss, who blogs about all things mind, body and spirit over at Such Different Skies, has been kind enough to answer some interview questions for us!  Her enthusiasm for life and love is completely contagious, and I definitely think she has some great words of advice to offer us all!
How would you describe your diet?
TB:  Mostly plant based with a huge emphasis on green juice; it makes me feel strong and unstoppable.  In the summer I tend to lean towards raw foods and in the cooler months I prefer a warm bowl of something cozy.
What is your favorite veggie, and how do you like to eat it?
TB:  I could live off avocado in the form of guacamole no problem!  I recently spent a month in Mexico and was in total guac heaven.
What was/is your biggest motivator for changing and maintaining your eating habits?
TB:  I first started accidentally transitioning to a plant based diet last year while preparing for my wedding.  I wanted to look healthy and vibrant so I started juicing a few times a day and saw immediate results.  Then with a little research I discovered the long term health benefits of a vegetarian / vegan diet, and when I was confronted with the horrific facts surrounding factory farming, I dove deeper, and became hugely passionate about human health and animal welfare.
What’s non-negotiable for you in your diet?
TB:  Greenery, hands down.  And PLENTY of H2O.  I also try to stick away from gluten and processed foods.  I will absolutely never, ever eat red meat, chicken or pork again, for as long as I live, and fast food is non existent to me these days- I’m all about preparation!
Describe what an average day of eats looks like for you.
TB:  Lately I’ve been starting my day with a gigantic liquid breakfast: I drink a huge glass of hot water with lemon, take a shot of either noni juice or aloe vera juice and sip on a cup of organic herbal tea with a tablespoon of coconut oil melted in it.  This gives me heaps of energy and sustains me until I have my first juice of the day.  A few hours later I’ll have a green smoothie, something more substantial for lunch (like an Asian soup with shitake mushrooms and tempeh).  Dinner varies- my husband is a chef, so I’m spoilt for choice.
How do you like to get your sweat on?
TB:  Exercise for me used to be punishing, but these days it’s gentle, fluid and inspiring.  I love yoga, snowboarding and jogging.
What is a natural beauty product you swear by?
TB:  Coconut oil- I use it as an eye cream, all-body moisturiser and also as a hair treatment.  It’s totally revolutionary.  Hurraw lip balm is pretty boss too!
What steps do you take to try to live a greener life?
TB:  I hoard jars and drink from them instead of glasses.  I don’t eat packaged food so that saves a lot of waste, I read by candle light and I’m an obsessed recycler.
What is/are your favorite book(s) about healthy living (physical, mental, or spiritual)?
TB:  Man!  I’m the biggest book nerd so this is a tough one.  The stand outs for me are Crazy Sexy Diet (Kris Carr), The Fire Starter Sessions (Danielle LaPorte), The Kind Diet (Alicia Silverstone), Vibrational Healing Through the Chakras (Joy Gardner) and Perfect Health (Deepak Chopra).
What is the best piece of advice you have for someone looking to live a healthier life?
TB:  Drink your vegetables!  Land your butt on a meditation pillow and only think wonderful and loving thoughts of yourself and others.

Tara is studying to become an energy-health coach, and is currently offering unlimited e-mail response coaching for only $50 a month!  This is a great deal, as she will be charging over $100 per hour once she is a full-on coach.  She has a lot to offer, and I think everyone could benefit from some excellent advice and support in their journey to health!
Thank you so much, Tara!
All the rest of you, have a blessed day!

I LOVE MY AVOS! :D Yum yum! I am a huge plant-based (lots of green) person too. Is this your secret to your glowing, radiant skin Tara? :P

And coconut oil – isn’t it the best? It’s like buying a HUGE jar for so many uses – as a moisturizer, to cook, to make raw desserts, to make snacks etc.

Oh my gosh – and glass jar hoarding. You should come over and look in the cabinet under my sink, so many different jars of different sizes from different products… :P

I enjoyed reading this so much, thank you Lindsay for this lovely feature of Tara! <3 xxx

    • Haha Jia my skin is a work in progress (I don’t think it’s as good as what instagram says!) I’ve definitely noticed the positive effect that juicing and general alkalinity has on my face. Oh, and fresh air! That’s a biggie! x

Would you believe that my boyfriend hates avocados??? He’s got to be crazy. It’s something about the texture I think, but I’m completely obsessed with it!

I’m definitely with you ladies on the coconut oil and jar love, as well! <3
