Natural Beauty: Tom’s of Maine Antiperspirant

So, I feel like a total weirdo right now.  I know, not the first time that I’ve said that on here, but right now, it’s because I’m actually excited over deodorant!  Yup, I’m loony.  Lock me up.

There are myriad natural deodorants out there on the market, but, honestly, I can’t do JUST a deodorant.  I may smell fresh, but I am gonna have some crazy pit stains!  No, thanks!  I need an antiperspirant to keep me fresh, dry, and confident.

This requirement has keeping me in the normal people’s deodorant for far too long.  But, lo and behold, one of my favorite natural products brands, Tom’s of Maine, recently released a brand new natural antiperspirant!  The angels are singing and rejoicing up in Heaven right now.

Of course, I immediately had to give it a shot.  I even went to far as to order it online, because I couldn’t find the product at any stores where I live.

My verdict:  It’s great!  I wouldn’t go as far as to say it gives legit 24 hour coverage, but it certainly keeps me dry and stink-free all day!

The natural powder is the only scent that it is available in, as of yet, but I really like it.  It comes in a white solid stick form, and goes on easily, with only a bit of residue.

As with all of their products, you can look at the company’s website to see a full list of ingredients, including their sources.  And, of course, it was never tested on animals.

Check it out!

Something else to check out, my babies are growing!!!

My cilantro sprouts are even starting to form their little curly edible leave now!  I’m so stoked!

Enjoy your Tuesday!

I’ll have to try this!! Deodorant is the one thing I’ve never been able to switch because natural deodorant sucks!! It’s always so sticky!!

Yeah, I had one of their apricot deodorants a while back and it had a super weird texture. This one really doesn’t feel much different than my Secret. It’s cool!

Hi! I’ve only recently come across your site and I was so excited to find it because I’m also a Nutrition student (in Canada) and my name is Lindsay, so obviously we have some innate similarities ;)
I was asking at the health food store near me if they’d soon be carrying Tom’s new anti-perspirant after I read your post, and I was told that Tom’s had been bought out by Clorox or another big company like that.
So I was wondering if you could tell me what the ingredients are like, and what metal they use (or do they use aluminum?)
Apparently what makes a deodorant an antiperspirant is the presence of a metal because that clogs the pores and keeps you from sweating.
Anyways, just wondering! Nice to “meet” you :)

Yeah Tom’s is owned by Colgate-Palmolive and Burt’s Bees is owned by Clorox – both big bad companies :(

I now make my own deodorant (which seems to work ok at keeping me dry too). It’s just a mix of equal parts coconut oil (the raw, organic kind is best), baking powder, corn starch and a few drops of essential oil of your choice (I use tea tree and a citrus one). And I don’t use precise measurements (just whatever gets me a creamy consistency like frosting).

I have been using Tom’s of Main Antiperspirant for a few weeks now and I am very upset. First of all, I still am able to sweat through it ( I have yet to find a natural antiperspirant that keeps me dry), but I don’t smell, so that is a plus. However, the deodorant gets all over everything! No matter how I try to put my shirts on, white powder all over it. And the worst part of all, it stains. My fav shirt is now stained with oil residue. The deodorant contains too many vegetable fats. Needs to be reformulate big time. Did they give it to actual people to test out before putting this on the market?
