You Don’t Have to Go All the Way

Everyday I talk with people who are genuinely curious about and interested in veganism.  Still, next to none of these people take the plunge and completely cut animal products from their diets.  And you know what?  That doesn’t bother me one little bit!

I constantly hear my friends and acquaintances say, “I just don’t think I could ever be vegan.  I would miss this, this and this too much!”  Well, my dearies, I am here to tell you that eating a healthy, plant-based diet doesn’t have to be all or nothing!

Including as little as one vegan meal in your day can make a huge difference in your health!  Switch out your bacon and eggs in the morning for a green smoothie and some whole wheat toast with almond butter, and your heart (and probably your hips) will thank you.  Instead of that chicken Caesar wrap at lunch, try a fatty green salad topped with chickpeas or edamame, and dressed with oil and vinegar, or my favorite Goddess dressing (either Annie’s brand, or Trader Joe’s for the discount).  Nix that burger for a yummy grain and veggie bowl.  Your possibilities are endless!

Interested in pursuing a vegan diet more seriously, but worried that you’re still going to want certain foods on occasion?  Guess what!  There is no food police out there that is going to pop out of the walls and arrest you if you feel like sampling some delicious brie one night!  There are some purist vegans and general haters out there that might give you a hard time, but don’t sweat it!  Just do you!

There are so many great reasons to eat a plant-based diet!  For yourself, for Earth, and for the animals whose lives are being saved.  Even if we all just chip a little bit, it’s still better overall than if everyone who thought that they could never be a vegan just flat-out gave up on the concept.

If you’re still living on meat, butter and cheese, I beg you reconsider your reasons for dismissing a vegan diet!  It can do a world of good!

I’m stepping off of my soapbox now!  Have a wonderful Friday the 13th!! xoxo

Great post! very encouraging. I had a veggie burger for dinner last night. I actually prefer the flavor and texture over beef. I’m glad it’s an option on more and more restaurant menus.
