If you know Keenan and I very well, you know that we can’t stay in one place for too long. We’re just antsy like that, I guess. Well, this past week, we took our mutual day off and headed to the ocean!
I swear, I could spend all day watching my dog run around on beach trying to chase seagulls (which are much larger than him!)

After playing around for a bit, we raced Arlo back to the car, and took off to go check into our hotel.
While we were settling into our room, Keenan happened to go out on our balcony, and saw a small herd of deer grazing out back of the hotel. We noticed a man trying to feed the deer a carrot. He wasn’t very successful, but the deer weren’t running away. Keenan suggested that we go down and try to get some closer pictures. We stopped and bought a bag of potato chips out of a vending machine on our way down to try to bribe the deer into some good shots, and oh boy! did it work!
I hand-fed the entire bag of chips to two of the deer!
I was seriously jumping around like a little kid afterward. It was such an amazing experience to get that close to such beautiful creatures. I got to pet them (although they didn’t really seem to be fans), and it was so funny feeling their tongues on the palm of my hand and they grabbed the chips from me. I just hope I didn’t give them a tummy ache or anything by feeding them junk food! But really, that experience completely made my trip. If that had been the only thing that really happened on the trip, I would have been completely and totally satisfied.
But, lucky me, it wasn’t the only great part! After we finished feeding the deer, we headed to the bar at the Shilo Inn (great view!) to grab a beer and watch the sunset. How romantic, right?

We spent the rest of the night back in our hotel room watching tv and enjoying the fireplace. It was incredibly relaxing. For only having one day off of work, I couldn’t have asked to spend it any better way.
What’s the best getaway you’ve been on recently?
I hope you have a beautiful Sunday full of love and laughter!

I, too, went to Ocean Shores. It was today, accompanied by Jeffrey the Wonderhusband and my Amazing Mother. We walked out Damon Point to see the snowy owls, lunched at the Homeport Restaurant, visited the jetty to see some other uncommon (to us) shorebirds hopping on the rocks, and stopped by the sewage treatment pond and the old marina to see several varieties of ducks. Saw your deer, too. They looked fatter and happier than any other deer in town. I think they miss you.
