Today was one of those wonderful mornings with a Sunday morning-style breakfast, that just happened to be a Tuesday! It was incredible, but there were a few things going on before I got around to breakfast this morning, such as homemade chai and a super fun workout!
Anyone who’s been following my blog for a while knows how obsessed I am with chai. Yesterday, I decided to make a wise financial decision in the chai department, and I picked up a box of Tazo organic chai tea bags! The box of 20 bags cost me around $3.99. Less than it would usually cost me to buy ONE chai latte at Starbucks!!
I just warmed up some almond milk in the microwave, added a chai tea bag and a packet of stevia, and sipped away to my heart’s content!
While sipping on my chai, I completed this lovely leg workout circuit!
Lunges 15 x 3
Deadlifts 15 x 3
Buttlifts 15 x 3
Squats 15 x 3
Wall Sit 45 sec. x 3
Plie Squats 15 x 3
Crunches 25 x 3
I finished the workout with a run/walk with Keenan and Arlo. It was our first time ever trying to take Arlo on a run, and he was a champ! We mostly ran 2.25 miles, taking walk breaks every once in a while to rest Arlo’s little legs, plus about a mile total of walking to and from the trail. It may not have been the most intense workout, but it was definitely afun, high energy workout!
I feel like I’m finally getting my groove back with running! This was my third run this week, and they just keep getting easier and easier! This time last year I was training for a half marathon, so I’d really like to get back in that kind of running shape!
Last night, I decided that I wanted to have a fun and exciting breakfast this morning.
This morning, I walked out of the bedroom to the aroma of apple cinnamon delight floating through the air. It was incredible. You have no idea how hard it was for me to wait until after running to eat these apples! Actually, I didn’t wait. I definitely snuck a piece as soon as I first smelled them!
After running, I came back, and got to work on the rest of breakfast: zucchini hashbrowns, Field Roast sausage, and green juice.
The juice wasn’t far from my usual recipe.
- 2 Celery stalks
- Green apple
- Fuji apple
- 1/2 Lemon
- 2 handfuls Spinach
- a small bunch of Parsley
Yum! It’s a very light blend!
To put the rest of breakfast together, I simply set a large skillet on the stove, sprayed it down with cooking spray, and loaded it up with my goodies.
I mixed a medium-sized shredded zucchini, with two minced cloves of garlic. I shaped them into rectangles, about a 1/4 inch thick, and allowed them to brown on the bottom.
Meanwhile, I let the faux sausage cook, rotating it every few minutes to get an even golden brown color.
When the hasbrowns were brown, I flipped them, which sounds much easier than it is. I ended up with quite a zucchini mess, so I just reshaped them once they were flipped.
Once everything was done, I had a breakfast fit for a queen!
Even Arlo was trying to get in on the action!
I’m sure he was ravenous after his workout!
Time for me to head back into the kitchen! I’ve got to clean up after my breakfast adventure, plus I have a few new kitchen adventures taking place today that will turn up on here soon!
