Natural Beauty: Coconut Oil

Hey guys!  How’s your weekend going so far?  I hope it’s wonderful!

I somehow slept in until 12:50 this morning!  I seriously don’t know how my body can sleep so much!  I really want to get on a better sleep schedule than what I’m currently on.  There’s no way that sleeping that much can be healthy!

Anyway, I hurriedly got ready to go to work, and saved myself some extra time by throwing my wet hair up into a messy bun and putting on a headband.  Always a good save.  I even still had time to hit up the Starbucks.

The usual: grande soy chai.  Aren’t I predictable?

Although, not too predictable, because I don’t have a smoothie today!  Instead, Keenan was awesome enough to fry me up a Tempeh BLT!!!

Dave’s Killer spelt bread toasted with Earth Balance, Vegenaise, romaine, tomato, and tempeh bacon.  I am a huge fan!  I’ve never really ventured very far into the world of faux meats, other than a couple attempts with some “chicken” wings, but I am impressed!  This has quite a bacon-y taste, and doesn’t have the fermented taste that has turned me off to tempeh in the past.  I definitely recommend it!

In other news, I’ve decided to slowly start switching over from my old bath and beauty products to a more natural selection of products.  It’s one thing to eat healthy, and try to put less chemicals in our bodies that way, but if we’re still slathering chemicals our body everyday, then it’s almost pointless.

I’m definitely not the richest person, so I’m not about to go throw away all of my old stuff, and go buy all new products right away, so I’m just going to switch when I run out of old products.  The first product that I ran out of was body lotion.  I use body lotion after every time I shower, so it’s something I tend to go through rather quickly.  When I ran out, I didn’t even have to go to the store, I just reached into my kitchen cupboard and brought out my coconut oil.  I keep it in my kitchen, but I hardly ever use it for cooking, and it makes a darn good moisturizer.

On hot days, it will be a liquid, but on most days it will be a solid in container.  When it’s solid, simply scoop some out with your fingers, and rub it between your palms until it liquifies.  It’s a bit more slippery than most body lotions, but I love how luxurious it makes my skin feel.  Plus, knowing that I’m not slathering chemicals all over my body every day gives me peace of mind and body!

As I continue to switch products I’ll give more info about each product that I try.  Pretty sure my next one is going to be body wash!

What are some of your favorite natural beauty products?

Have a super day!

<3 Lindsay

  1. Ooh, nice move with the coconut oil. I have to have my ginger and lemon Badger balm always.

I love it. I remember my mom having Badger balm when I was younger. Seems to me it was amazing for knees and elbows and whatnot!
